About this course
A2/1 is the first step of the A2 level and builds on a solid A1 foundation. We continue with the sentence-pattern method: clear pattern explanations, many example sentences, practice exercises with solutions, short Language Info Docs with real German tips, and lots of natural dialogues with voice recordings. In A2/1 you learn to talk more freely about daily life — giving opinions and reasons, comparing options, telling simple stories in the past, and handling typical situations at work, with friends, on the phone, or while travelling. The course includes structured materials, pattern explanations, Language Info Docs, many examples, practice exercises with solutions, dialogues, MP3 audio files, live sessions with Klaus (frequency depends on your chosen plan), and 24/7 WeChat access for questions, practice, and motivation.
Learning outcomes
Express yourself with more detail and precision in everyday German
You move beyond basic survival German and begin to say things in a more exact, personal way.
Use more advanced structures for intention, purpose, and evaluation
Patterns such as zu + infinitive, um...zu, and damit, which let you explain goals and intentions.
Talk about change, development, and future-oriented ideas
With the verb werden, you describe how things change and how situations develop.
Use more nuanced negation
You move beyond "not" and "no" to forms like never, nobody, not anymore, not yet, nowhere.
Handle more complex thoughts with stronger subordinate clauses
You deepen your use of dass and learn to build richer, more connected sentences.
Ask and understand indirect questions
Patterns like "Do you know if..." or "I want to know when..." — extremely common in real conversation.
Express emotional and personal reactions more naturally
Useful expressions such as I like it, it hurts, it annoys me, it interests me, it surprises me.
Compare people, things, and situations more flexibly
Stronger comparative language for talking about differences, developments, and expectations.
Improve control of word order with pronouns and reflexive forms
An important step toward more natural, less hesitant German.
Use important verb + preposition combinations
Highly valuable for everyday speech — and they make your German sound noticeably more natural.
